A literatura como testemunho ficcional em Senhor das Moscas : escrita, memória e representação enquanto compromisso com a humanidade

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa busca analisar a relação entre a literatura de testemunho e a escrita ficcional, dois elementos que se relacionam e estiveram bastante presentes na produção literária, principalmente, na literatura pós Segunda Guerra Mundial. Adentrando inicialmente a caracterização desta literatura e os diversos questionamentos que sofreu por não ser considerada fonte histórica, pretende-se então passar pela exploração de como elementos da literatura de testemunho se apresentam no campo da escrita ficcional, de forma abrangente, e posteriormente inserindo-se em definitivo na fonte principal desta pesquisa, que é o romance Senhor das Moscas (1954), de William Golding. Exploraremos o conteúdo dessa narrativa singular, pela característica de vivência que o autor teve na guerra, mais ainda pela descrição das consequências da guerra, a metáfora da perda da inocência das crianças no cenário de tanta violência e no cunho de conscientização e preservação das memórias que a obra possui. Nas "catástrofes históricas", como nos genocídios, guerras ou nas perseguições violentas em massa, a narração da memória do trauma é sempre uma tarefa difícil de ser executada. Por isso, o presente trabalho busca aprofundar-se na leitura da obra escrita por William Golding, Senhor das Moscas (1954) e, analisar e explorar o contexto da memória e do papel da literatura de testemunho, mesmo que no campo da ficção, enquanto compromisso com a humanidade. Esta pesquisa foi realizada de forma bibliográfica analítica e busca promover discussões e reflexões acerca de algumas das características do gesto testemunhal e, da literatura como testemunho, uma vez que esse romance pode ser interpretado como um relato fictício dos limites da civilização e da decadência moral em contextos de isolamento, violência e luta pela sobrevivência, o que cria paralelos com a urgência da narrativa de experiências extremas e o dilema da representação, conforme discutido por teóricos como Márcio Seligmann-Silva, Walter Benjamin, Júlio Pimentel, entre outros. Intencionando ao final demonstrar não só que tal produção escrita é fonte importante para os estudos da literatura de testemunho, mas ressaltando também a importância da ficção na preservação das memórias, principalmente, pós-trauma. Além disso, demonstrando que tais narrativas também estão a serviço de memórias históricas e servem como ferramenta de auxílio tanto para o leitor como para estudiosos.

Abstract: This research seeks to analyze the relationship between testimonial literature and fictional writing, two elements that are interconnected and were strongly present in literary production, especially in post-Second World War literature. Initially, by entering the characterization of this type of literature and the various questions it faced for not being considered a historical source, the study then intends to explore how elements of testimonial literature are manifested within the field of fictional writing, in a comprehensive manner, subsequently inserting itself definitively into the main source of this research, which is the novel Lord of the Flies (1954), by William Golding. We will explore the content of this singular narrative, both due to the author's experience of war and, above all, because of the description of the consequences of war, the metaphor of the loss of children's innocence in a scenario of extreme violence, and the work's role in raising awareness and preserving memory. In "historical catastrophes" such as genocides, wars, or mass violent persecutions, the narration of traumatic memory is always a difficult task to carry out. Therefore, the present study seeks to deepen the reading of William Golding's Lord of the Flies (1954), analyzing and exploring the context of memory and the role of testimonial literature, even within the field of fiction, as a commitment to humanity. This research was conducted through analytical bibliographic methodology and seeks to promote discussions and reflections on some of the characteristics of the testimonial gesture and of literature as testimony, since this novel can be interpreted as a fictional account of the limits of civilization and moral decay in contexts of isolation, violence, and struggle for survival. This interpretation creates parallels with the urgency of narrating extreme experiences and the dilemma of representation, as discussed by theorists such as Márcio Seligmann-Silva, Walter Benjamin, Júlio Pimentel, among others. Finally, this research intends to demonstrate not only that such written production is an important source for studies of testimonial literature, but also to highlight the importance of fiction in the preservation of memory, especially in post-trauma contexts. Furthermore, it shows that such narratives also serve historical memory and function as tools of support both for readers and for scholars.
