| Resumo: | A morfologia geral e histologia dos testículos de R. aspera foram descritas. Os testículos são estruturas pares, alongadas, compostas de um sistema anastomosado de túbulos seminíferos. A espermatogênese segue o padrão cístico comum aos teleósteos. As espermatogônias estão distribuídas ao longo de todo o comprimento dos túbulos seminíferos. São reconhecidos e descritos cinco estádios distintos de maturação dos testículos. São eles: imaturo, repouso, maturação, reprodução e esgotado. Estes estádios são caracterizados macro e microscopicamente e pelo índice gônado-somático. Abstract: The general morphology and histology of the armoured catfish testis R. aspera were described. They are a pair of elongated structures composed of an anostomosing system of seminiferous lobules. Spermatogenesis follows the cystic common pattern in teleost. The spermatogonia is distributed along the entire length of the testicular tubules. Five distinct stages of maturation on the testis have been recognized and described: immature, resting, maturation, reproduction and spent. These stages are characterized macro and microscopically, and by the gonadosomatic index. |
