Representações de identidade e resistência pós-colonial em A Resposta (2015) de Kathryn Stockett

Abstract

O romance A resposta (2015), de Kathryn Stockett, narra a história de uma sociedade no sul dos Estados Unidos através da visão de três protagonistas, Aibileen, Minny e Skeeter. Todas elas são responsáveis pela criação de uma obra metaficional chamada Ajuda, na qual as personagens expõe suas frustrações e sentimentos para a sociedade branca racista. A autora, nascida em um contexto racista na década de 1960, escreveu a obra para homenagear sua empregada e quis problematizar o ponto de vista da sociedade negra norte-americana em um período de segregação racial. A obra A resposta teve uma recepção ambígua, recebendo críticas por pesquisadores e pela mídia, principalmente depois do filme adaptado Histórias cruzadas, pois colocou em relevância o status do negro na sociedade americana atual, assim como o papel histórico da sociedade branca. O objetivo da presente dissertação é identificar as identidades das protagonistas e as resistências de cunho pós-colonial sofrida por elas. A pesquisa é dividida em quatro capítulos que buscam identificar, primeiro, as motivações da autora para a escrita da narrativa, e segundo, por análises de situações racistas na obra e suas origens. Em seguida estudamos como a identidade de sujeitos femininos pertencentes ao terceiro mundo é construída, e na última parte, abordamos como a resistência pós-colonial é trazida teoricamente e analisada na obra. Para delimitação de pesquisa, analisamos as personagens de forma separada, colocando em evidência os aspectos formadores de cada uma das análises propostas em cada capítulo. Entende-se, ao final do trabalho, que a resistência ocorrida de forma escrita com a criação da obra Ajuda é a principal forma de afirmação de liberdade por parte das protagonistas, e através do livro há a demonstração de outras formas de resistência

The novel The help (2010) by Kathryn Stockett, tell's the story of a society on the south of the United States through the eyes of three main characters Aibileen, Minny and Skeeter. All of them are responsible by the creation of a metaficcional book named Help, where the characters show us their frustrations and feelings to the racist white society. The author, born in a racist context on the decade of 1960, write the book to honor her maid and she wants to problematic the North American black society's point of view in a period of racial segregation. The book The help have been an ambiguous reception receiving critics by researchers and media, mainly because after the movie adaptation The help, that presents the black status within the actual American society, as the historical role of the white society. This thesis' aim is to identify the main characters' identities and the post-colonial resistances suffer by them. This work is divide in four chapters that seek to identify, first, the authors' motivations to write the narrative, and secondly an analysis of racist situations on the book and in its origins. Afterwords, we study how the identity of feminine subjects of the third world are built, and in the last part, we discuss how the post-colonial resistance is theoretically bring and analyzed in the book. To narrow the research, we analyse the characters in a separated way, put in evidence the formative aspects belonged to each one of the proposed analysis at each chapter. It is understood that the written resistance happened with the creation of the metaficcional book The Help is the main form of the acquisition of freedom to the main characters, and beyond the book the other resistances happened on the novel
