Protozoários flagelados heterotróficos (Chromista e Protozoa) em fitotelmata de bromélia (Bromeliaceae)

Abstract

Muitas plantas podem, em sua superfície externa, acumular água da chuva formando o fitotelmata (do grego, phyton = planta; telm = poça), micro-habitat aquáticos colonizados por diversos organismos, entre eles, os protozoários flagelados. Fez-se um inventário da procta de flagelados heterotróficos associados ao fitotelmata da bromélia Aechmea distichantha Lem. encontrada em paredões rochosos de um trecho do alto rio Paraná. As bromélias foram retiradas manualmente do paredão e, em laboratório, a água foi retirada dos tanques de cada planta, e montadas culturas dos organismos em placas de Petri. Os flagelados heterotróficos foram, então, obsevados in vivo sob microscópio óptico Olympus BX51, munido com sistema de contraste de interferência diferencial (DIC). 20 espécies de protozoários flagelados heterotróficos foram registradas, desenhadas e descritas, sendo quatro espécies pertencentes ao Reino Chromista, 12 espécies ao Reino Protozoa e quatro espécies enquadradas em grupos residuais. As Ordens mais especiosas foram Euglenida e Kinetoplastea, pertencentes ao Reino Protozoa, com cinco e quatro espécies registradas, respectivamente. A diversidade relativamente reduzida de flagelados heterotróficos, registrada, quando comparada ao plâncton de lagos e reservatórios, pode estar relacionada ao fato de os fitotelmata serem habitat limitados, com condições ambientais extremas, selecionando, assim, organismos tolerantes a esses ambientes

Many plants may, in its outer surface, accumulate rainwater forming phytotelmata (Greek phyton = plant; telm = puddle), aquatic microhabitat inhabited by various organisms, including flagellate protozoa. Thus, the aim of this study was to inventory the procta of heterotrophic flagellates associated with phytotelmata of the bromeliad Aechmea distichantha Lem., found in rocky cliffs of a stretch of the Upper Paraná River. The bromeliads were removed manually from the rocky wall. In the laboratory, the water was removed from each plant tanks, and cultures of organisms of each plant mounted in petri dishes. After that, heterotrophic flagellates were continuously observed, alive, under an optical microscope Olympus BX51, equipped with a system of differential interference contrast (DIC). In the 20 species of heterotrophic flagellate protozoa were recorded, drawed and described, among them four species belonging to the kingdom Chromista, 12 species to the Kingdom Protozoa and four species framed in residual groups. The most specious Orders were Euglenida and Kinetoplastea, belonging to the kingdom Protozoa, with five and four species recorded, respectively. The low diversity of heterotrophic flagellates recorded in this study compared to the plankton of lakes and reservoirs, it is probably related to the fact that phytotelmata is a limited habitat, with extreme environmental conditions, selecting thus organisms tolerant to these environments
