O jornal Versus : metamorfoses de um periódico alternativo (1975-1979)

Abstract

RESUMO: Este trabalho se propõe a investigar, historicamente, a fonte jornal alternativo Versus. Versus foi um jornal representativo da imprensa alternativa. Além de Versus, outros jornais que ficaram conhecidos por esta denominação foram: O Pasquim, Movimento, Ex, Coojornal, entre outros. Versus se distinguia dos demais alternativos pelo padrão estético e por sua temática que variou, inicialmente, de uma abordagem focada na literatura e nas artes para, posteriormente, se dedicar predominantemente a temas da política nacional. O jornal era produzido em formato tabloide e tinha sede na cidade de São Paulo, circulou de 1975 a 1979. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a cultura política de oposição e resistência ao regime civil-militar brasileiro, por meio das páginas do periódico. Sendo assim, a presente pesquisa se apropria metodologicamente do conceito de cultura política para empreender a análise do objeto. Ao longo da pesquisa, e pela análise da fonte e da bibliografia de apoio foi possível concluir que o jornal possuiu duas fases distintas, a primeira de 1975 à 1977, e a segunda de 1977 à 1979. A primeira se caracterizou por uma forte presença temática da América Latina. Na segunda se observa a presença de debates propositivos sobre a conjuntura política brasileira. Sendo assim, a presente pesquisa buscou distinguir estas duas fases do periódico e analisar como se desenvolveu, nas páginas do periódico, o discurso político de oposição e resistência ao Regime Militar

ABSTRACT: This paper proposes to investigate, historically, the alternative newspaper source Versus. Versus was a newspaper representative of the alternative press. Besides Versus, other newspapers that were known by this denomination were: The Pasquim, Movement, Ex, Coojornal, among others. Versus was distinguished from the other alternatives by the aesthetic standard and by its thematic one that varied, initially, from an approach focused in the literature and the arts to, later, to devote predominantly to subjects of the national policy. The newspaper was produced in tabloid format and was based in the city of São Paulo, and circulated from 1975 to 1979. The objective of this research was to analyze the political culture of opposition and resistance to the Brazilian civil-military regime through the pages of the newspaper. Thus, the present research appropriates methodologically the concept of political culture to undertake the analysis of the object. Throughout the research, and through the analysis of the source and the supporting bibliography, it was possible to conclude that the newspaper had two distinct phases, the first from 1975 to 1977, and the second from 1977 to 1979. The first was characterized by a strong thematic presence in Latin America. The second shows the presence of propositional debates on the Brazilian political conjuncture. Thus, the present research sought to distinguish these two phases of the periodical and to analyze how the political discourse of opposition and resistance to the Military Regime was developed in the pages of the periodical
