Envelhecendo em movimento : relatos de experiências femininas

Abstract

RESUMO: A presente dissertação dimensiona como se configura a participação política e social de mulheres idosas por meio de relatos de experiências com abordagem biográfica. O objetivo é compreender como o envelhecimento é experimentado por mulheres com a vida pública ativa. Para contribuir com o debate sobre a velhice como um objeto de investigação, busca-se responder as seguintes questões: Como as mulheres lidam com o envelhecer? Como elas organizam suas atuações na vida social e política? Quais caminhos percorrem para se manterem ativas durante o processo do envelhecimento? Para responder essas questões foram entrevistadas seis mulheres idosas que possuem uma vida pública na política, ocupando cargos públicos, gerenciando pequenas e grandes empresas, liderando associações e organizações não governamentais entre outros grupos e instituições sociais. As entrevistas foram semiestruturadas e tinham como intuito resgatar a trajetória dessas mulheres, verificar a importância que elas atribuem aos problemas de gênero e como percebem a vivência do envelhecimento. Inspirada pela escrevivência, conceito criado pela escritora Conceição Evaristo, a metodologia deste estudo relata vivências individuais que informam sobre a experiência social da geração de mulheres nascidas entre a década de 1940 e 1960. Desse modo, articular os conceitos de gênero e geração foi essencial para o dimensionamento efetivo dessas questões. As interlocutoras demonstram que a maneira como se vive a velhice é resultado das escolhas que tomamos durante o curso da vida e que estar em movimento e construir um valor condutor para sua trajetória é essencial para que se construa uma história de vida pública ativa

ABSTRACT: This dissertation is about elderly women's political and social participation configured through experience reports with a biographical approach. The object is to understand how aging has been experienced by women with an active and social life. Therefore, to contribute to the debate on old age as an object of investigation, we seek to answer the following questions: How do women deal with aging? How do they organize their activities in social and political life? What paths do they take to stay active during the aging process? To answer these questions six elderly women were interviewed who have an active life in politics, holding public offices, managing small and large companies, leading associations and nongovernmental organizations among other groups and social institutions. The interviews were semi-structured and aimed to rescue the trajectory of these women, to verify the importance they attach to gender problems and understand how they perceive the experience of aging. Inspired by escrevivência, a concept created by the writer Conceição Evaristo, the methodology of this study reports individual experiences that inform about the social experience of the generation of women born between the 1940s and 1960s. Thus, articulating the concepts of gender and generation was essential for the effective dimensioning of these questions. The interlocutors demonstrate that how old age is lived is the result of the choices we make during life and that being on the move and building a conductive value for its trajectory is essential for building a history of active social life.
