A contribuição do engajamento literário para o desvelamento da realidade e crítica da má-fé a partir da filosofia de Jean-Paul Sartre

Abstract

Este estudo investiga a contribuição da literatura engajada no processo de desvelamento da realidade e aspectos da inautenticidade do agir humano a partir da má-fé em Jean-Paul Sartre. O trabalho está metodologicamente dividido em dois capítulos: o primeiro capítulo é fundamentado a partir da obra "Que é literatura?" e visa revelar a forma como a arte literária contribui para o processo de desvelar a realidade. O segundo capítulo resgata os conceitos de angústia, inautenticidade, má-fé, na obra "O ser e o nada", com o propósito de compreender o exercício da má-fé. Apresenta-se, em primeiro lugar, a relação entre literatura e filosofia, a qual intrinsecamente se estabelece entre estética e ética, voltando-se para uma reflexão sobre a responsabilidade do agir humano. Literatura e filosofia estabelecem entre si um elo de comunicação, pois têm o mesmo propósito: desvelar a realidade humana. Concomitantemente, o engajamento literário pode ser entendido no sentido de um conhecimento pré-reflexivo sobre o mundo que pressupõe o posicionamento crítico e responsável, o comprometimento com o outro, a disposição valorativa e ética voltada para a transformação da realidade. Para Sartre, a práxis da realidade humana se faz em ações concretas a partir de um projeto de ser inacabado e incompleto. A ação no mundo é mobilizada pela liberdade do ser-para-si que leva em conta a história do indivíduo em suas contingências. Para viabilizar a práxis da ação, a literatura nos auxilia a compreender a liberdade e favorece o compromisso ético com o semelhante. A literatura em prosa é uma forma de revelação do homem ao homem e de sua responsabilidade diante do mundo. Todavia, o homem está condenado à liberdade e é responsável por suas ações, provocando o sentimento de angústia ou um dispositivo de fuga que constitui o sentido da má-fé. O movimento teórico deste trabalho leva em conta a indeterminação ontológica do ser-para-si, a saber, a liberdade, e o dispositivo ético da literatura engajada, que propicia a autenticidade de condutas responsáveis, de um lado, e de crítica da má-fé, de outro. Por meio da má-fé dá-se uma forma de fuga da angústia causada pela liberdade do ser-para-si. Nela, o homem procura assumir um papel pronto na sociedade agindo de forma inautêntica para não ter que se responsabilizar pelas suas escolhas. O homem consciente e angustiado em sua situação de liberdade utiliza do exercício da má-fé para fugir e mascarar o vazio ou a falta de ser. Ao contrário, a crítica da má-fé e o engajamento são dispositivos que visam a existência autêntica a partir de condutas responsáveis e legítimas ao ser-para-si.

This study investigates the contribution of engaged literature in the process of unveiling reality and aspects of the inauthenticity of human action from the perspective of bad faith in Jean-Paul Sartre. The work is methodologically divided into two chapters: the first chapter is based on the work "What is literature?" and aims to reveal how literary art contributes to the process of unveiling reality. The second chapter recalls the concepts of anguish, inauthenticity, and bad faith in the work "Being and Nothingness", with the purpose of understanding the exercise of bad faith. First, we present the relationship between literature and philosophy, which intrinsically establishes itself between aesthetics and ethics, turning to a reflection on the responsibility of human action. Literature and philosophy establish a communication link between them, because they have the same purpose: to unveil human reality. Concurrently, literary engagement can be understood in the sense of a pre-reflexive knowledge about the world that presupposes a critical and responsible position, a commitment to the other, a valuative and ethical disposition aimed at transforming reality. For Sartre, the praxis of human reality takes place in concrete actions based on an unfinished and incomplete project of being. Action in the world is mobilized by the freedom of being-for-itself that considers the history of the individual in its contingencies. To enable the praxis of action, literature helps us understand freedom and favors the ethical commitment to our fellow man. Literature in prose is a form of revelation of man to man and of his responsibility before the world. However, man is condemned to freedom and is responsible for his actions, provoking the feeling of anguish or an escape device that constitutes the sense of bad faith. The theoretical movement of this work considers the ontological indeterminacy of being-for-itself, namely freedom, and the ethical device of engaged literature, which provides the authenticity of responsible behavior, on one hand, and criticism of bad faith, on the other. Through bad faith, there is a form of escape from the anguish caused by the freedom of being-for-itself. In it, man tries to assume a ready-made role in society by acting inauthentically so as not to have to take responsibility for his choices. The conscious and anguished man in his situation of freedom uses the exercise of bad faith to escape and mask the emptiness or lack of being. On the contrary, the critique of bad faith and the engagement are devices that aim at authentic existence based on responsible and legitimate behaviors to be-self.
