The western area of Paraná state, where the mid course of Piquiri river is located, is distinguished by relief of smooth uplands, dominated by surfaces of flattening developed on volcanic bases. There was little interest, from other ressearchers, in studying the tectonic context of the area, especially because of morphological characteristics from its landscape, that suggests little movement. However, a detailed survey from Fault Zones that affect this area was made in this study and indicates that, unlike it was imagined, the region has strong evidence of tectonic activity. The present study had as its aim to propose a model of tectonic evolution of the central portion of Paraná’s Sedimentary Basin and to understand in what way the fault zones and the erosion mechanisms affect the drainage systems of the mid portion from the catchment basin of Piquiri river. In turn, this thesis sums up in four analyses. The structural and tectonic analyses was made from acquiring the types of faults that presented cinematic indication in four quarrys in the area. For the most part, the strike-slip faults present high angle and striations and steps of poor trim. This analyses showed that the area was affected for until four distorting events as of Cretaceous. Four events present SHmax sub-horizontal and character of pure strike-slip for transtensional, the most recent one being defined as of Pleistocene, with SHmax oriented in N67W. These events had important meaning for control of some rivers in the area. The event E4 (Pleistocene) was responsible for the right-slip reactivation of faults N60-70E (Guaxupé direction) and N70-90W, and left-slip of faults N0-30W and N30-60W. It’s associated to these faults lineaments affecting alluvium in meandered ring from Goio-Erê river, deformations in bedrock at Piquiri river, associated to nucleation of drainage anomaly called "tight" in Formosa do Oeste (PR), the generation of failed dams in the Fault Zone Curitiba-Maringá, in addition to records of deformations in Quaternery sediments from Paraná river and in sandstones from Formação Marília (SP). The topological analyses of the drainage system was made with the aim of understanding in what way the tectonic structures control the number of anomalous confluences and affect the hierarchic distribution of canals in the basins in intraplaque environment. This study establishes a set of variables that interfere in the Hierarchical Anomaly Index (?a), related to the number of anomalous confluences, like the variations of the drainage density in the basins and the orientation of fault zones. The regression coefficient of the hierarchical distribution of channels within the basins (R2) showed that 71% of the basins are compatible with the location of the tributary junction responsible for reaching the last order channel within the basin. The results showed that the place where the rivers reach the canal of last order interefere directly in these values. The analyses of evolution from the relief was made from processing in environment GIS, as the minimun bulk erosion maps and roughness concentration (RCI). This analysis identified a transition zone well defined between a transient landscape, more erosive, and a relictual landscape, less erosive. The erosion pulses move from east to west and envolve the process of capture of drainages per decapitation. Curiously, this mechanism occurs of upstream to downstream in the basin of Piquiri river and appears to have been generated by pulses of intermittent soerguiment from the east edge of Basaltic Plateau. Finally, the analysis about the distribution of knickpoints indicates that these breakpoints are strongly controlled by basaltic lithologic transitions, by dykes associated with the Piquiri River Alignment and by Fault Zones that affect the area of study, especially the faults reactivated by the event E4. The knickpoints are, mostly, of vertical-step, and the erosion mechanisms identified in Salto do Paiquere, at Goio-Erê river, indicate that they are mobile knickpoints that evolve on a substitution process. In a reverse order, the knickpoints supported by dams associated to Piquiri River Alignment are anchored in the landscape. The speed of propagation of some knickpoints from their tributary joints obey the law of potency related to the drainage contribution area. Therefore, some knickpoints have the same genesis and indicate that the area is affected by changes of base level, at times controlled by inter-spill and basalt-sandstone lithological variations, often associated to discreet intermittent uplift pulses |
