Crença e psicanálise : um diálogo entre Sigmund Freud e Oskar Pfister

Abstract

RESUMO: Essa pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar a possibilidade de uma noção de crença, para além da religiosidade, por meio de um diálogo entre Sigmund Freud e Oskar Pfister. Constitui-se uma pesquisa teórica na abordagem psicanalítica, em que partimos da noção freudiana de crença religiosa para investigarmos a possibilidade de uma noção de crença que não se limitasse ao conteúdo religioso. A crença religiosa foi um assunto recorrente nas obras freudianas, já a crença, em sentido amplo, nos pareceu uma lacuna a ser investigada. Assim sendo, nos propomos a compreender a relação entre Sigmund Freud e Oskar Pfister, por meio de suas correspondências presentes na obra "Cartas entre Freud e Pfister (1909-1939): um diálogo entre a psicanálise e a fé cristã". A amizade entre um ateu psicanalista e um pastor psicanalista, além de curiosa e intrigante, trazia consigo debates fervorosos sobre a crença religiosa. Também, apresentamos a crítica freudiana da crença religiosa presente na sua obra "O futuro de uma ilusão", em que Freud atribuiu a fundamentação psíquica desse fenômeno. Posteriormente, abordamos a resposta de Pfister à crítica freudiana, contida na obra "A ilusão de um futuro". Por meio dessas obras pudemos discutir a noção de crença religiosa e, a partir dela, identificar os elementos que nos permitem pensar a crença para além da religiosidade, enquanto uma possibilidade e um limite. Concluímos que é possível discutir uma noção de crença que não se restrinja à religiosidade, sem romper com a fundamentação psíquica estabelecida por Freud, uma vez que esse caminho foi traçado por Pfister ao apontar, a partir da fundamentação freudiana, que a ciência havia se tornado uma crença para Freud. Uma noção geral de crença atenderia a realização de um desejo inconsciente, o que a torna também uma ilusão, rompendo necessariamente em algum nível com a realidade. Desse modo, a crença seria um mecanismo inconsciente, podendo estar para além daquilo que conscientemente declaramos crer ou descrer, o que chamamos de "crença por trás da crença".

ABSTRACT: This research had as main goal to inquire the possibility of a notion of belief, beyond religiosity, through a dialogue between Sigmund Freud and Oskar Pfister. It is a theoretical research inside the psychoanalytic approach, in which we started from the Freudian notion of belief in order to inquire the possibility of a notion of belief that would not be limited to religious content. Religious belief was a recurrent issue in Freudian books, while belief, in a broad sense, seemed a gap to be inquired. Therefore, we proposed to understand the relation between Sigmund Freud and Oskar Pfister, through their correspondences presented in the book "Letters between Freud and Pfister (1909-1939): a dialogue between psychoanalysis and Christian faith". The friendship between a psychoanalyst atheist and a psychoanalyst pastor, besides curious and intriguing, brought with it fervent debates about religious belief. We also presented the Freudian critique of the religious belief presented in his work "The future of an illusion'', in which Freud attributed the psychic ground of this phenomenon. Subsequently, we approached Pfister's respond to Freud's criticism, in the book "The illusion of a future". Through these books, we were able to discuss the notion of religious belief and, from it, identify the elements that allow us to understand belief beyond religiosity, as a possibility and a limit. We concluded that it is possible to discuss a notion of belief that is not restricted to religiosity, without breaking with the psychic ground established by Freud, since this path was traced by Pfister when pointing, from the Freudian ground, that Science had become a belief for Freud. A general notion of belief would fulfill an unconscious wish, which also makes it an illusion, necessarily breaking with the reality at some level. In this way, belief would be an unconscious mechanism, and it may be beyond what we consciously claim to believe or disbelieve, what we called "belief behind belief".
